Diversity and Inclusion at Bailey

International Students: The healthcare system in the US is complex and frustrating, even for students who have lived here their entire lives. For many international students, communicating about medical issues can be challenging especially when English is not your first language. Our nurse educator, Tricia Shoudt can answer questions about the requirements for immunizations and insurance. Bailey works closely with our student health insurance plan to help international students navigate claims and comply with our insurance requirements. Nurse, Tricia Shoudt

Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender Health: We recognize that sexual minorities often face discrimination in healthcare. Bailey is committed to providing a safe and caring environment for LGBTQ students. We provide STI screening and counseling, free condoms, evaluation and treatment for STIs, cervical cancer screening, and prescriptions for PrEP (pre-exposure HIV prophylaxis). The student health insurance plan (SHIP) is a trans-inclusive policy. Review the SHIP through the Aetna Benefits Brochure. Lafayette College Aetna Plan 2108-19

First Generation/Low Income Students:  Healthcare off campus can be expensive and daunting. Sometimes students face serious challenges balancing healthcare costs with other responsibilities. If you have trouble understanding your medical bills or feel overwhelmed with the costs involved, there are resources on campus to assist you. We will do our best to help you connect with campus support.
